My Story

Ms. Michelle is entering her 18th year of teaching. She graduated from Illinois State University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree  in elementary education and a minor in dance education. From there Michelle started teaching 7th grade English and social studies at Coal City Middle School where she is still employed. Continuing her education, Michelle received a masters in teaching and learning from University of St. Francis and a second masters as a reading specialist from Olivet Nazarene. Dancing, gymnastics, tumbling, and poms have been part of Michelle’s life since she was three! She started with tumbling and continued with gymnastics, and at age 13, Michelle started dancing. Her experience includes training in ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, tap, and hip hop, as well as serving as captain of the pom squad during high school.

This will be Michelle’s third year teaching at DanceQuest. Prior to this she taught at Major School of Dance for 13 years and coached fall poms, wrestling cheerleading, winter poms, and dance competition team for 8 years at Coal City High School. Ms. Michelle is also a certified Zumba instructor. Her favorite dance style is hip hop, but her true passion is teaching. Michelle is excited to continue to enlighten children with a love and appreciation for all styles of dance!
